Job summary

Reddit is seeking a Staff Android Engineer to lead the technical strategy for Video Ads and reddit-unique ad formats on Android. You will guide architecture, design reviews, and high-performance delivery for millions of users, while mentoring engineers across teams.

You will work in a fully remote environment with a product-minded focus, leveraging GenAI tools to increase productivity and delivering data-driven improvements. A BS degree in CS and 8+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience (Staff level seniority).
• Android Mastery: 3+ years, Kotlin, and 4+ Android projects from ideation to production.
• Prior experience in Ad Tech with interactive/rich-media mobile experiences.
• Product Mindset: delivering user-facing features with strong UI polish and performance.
• System Design: able to build fault-tolerant client-side systems in data-intensive environments.
• AI: experience leveraging GenAI tools to boost engineering productivity.
• Experimentation/Analysis: familiarity with product metrics and A/B testing (BigQuery, HEX, Firebase).
• Versatility: willingness to work across the stack and explore AI/ML approaches.
• Entrepreneurial spirit: self-directed, innovative, and action-oriented.
• Excellent communication: collaborate with remote teams and explain complex topics.
• Strong leadership: mentoring and uplifting team members’ technical skills.
• BS degree in Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Video Ads Tech Lead: partner with Product/Design to drive roadmap and technical execution.
• Technical Strategy: establish Android best practices and design reviews for scalable formats.
• Full-Cycle Leadership: oversee discovery, prototyping, testing, experimentation, and deployment.
• Raise the Bar: mentor senior engineers and promote best practices in design, testing, and operations.
