Job summary

Affirm is seeking a senior security engineer to lead the enterprise AI security review process for AI/LLM systems. You will model risks, review tool configurations, and design guardrails to ensure secure adoption across the organization.

You will collaborate with Security, Legal, Privacy, Compliance, IT, and Engineering to embed security into design, governance, and policy-as-code, while staying current on AI security trends and best practices. Remote-first with some in-person onboarding.

Qualifications

• Seasoned security engineer with hands-on experience designing and maintaining security architecture for AI/LLM-based systems.
• Threat modeling and reviewing AI/LLM apps against common security top risks including data exposure and tool-permission abuse.
• Experience building governance artifacts and evaluating AI capabilities within SaaS platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead and continually improve Affirm's enterprise AI security review process across architecture, data flows, permissions and design of AI tools.
• Threat model AI/LLM-based systems and data flows; identify risks and drive remediation.
• Review source code, prompts, configurations, and tool manifests; help owners build security-focused test cases.
• Design and build security guardrails and policy-as-code (Python, IaC) for permissions, data handling, logging and monitoring.
• Evaluate third-party AI capabilities and SaaS vendors for risk-based adoption.
• Identify emerging AI security vulnerabilities and contribute to incident response playbooks.
• Lead cross-functional security initiatives across Security, Engineering, Legal, Privacy, Compliance.
