Job summary

CVS Health is advancing secure AI-enabled applications at scale. As Staff Application Security Engineer – AI & Agentic Systems, you will partner with engineering, product and data teams to embed security into design, development, and operation of traditional and AI-driven solutions.

You will define secure design patterns, conduct threat modeling, guide secure practices, and support responsible AI governance across the enterprise. This role includes mentorship and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• 7+ years designing, building, or securing enterprise-scale apps and platforms.
• 5+ years of application security including threat modeling, secure design, code review, and vulnerability management.
• 5+ years programming in Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, or Go.
• 3+ years developing or securing AI, ML, or generative AI solutions.
• 3+ years with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain application and AI security standards, guardrails.
• Promote secure-by-design principles across lifecycles.
• Define secure design patterns for AI agents, prompt management, tool integrations, memory handling, and autonomous workflows.
• Partner with engineering to identify and mitigate AI-specific security risks.
• Review architectures involving LLMs, retrieval augmented generation, AI agents, and AI-powered workflows.
• Define identity, authorization, data protection, observability, and governance controls for AI environments.
• Collaborate with AI platform, engineering, product, and data teams to ensure secure adoption.
• Perform threat modeling, architecture reviews, and security assessments for apps and AI systems.
• Prioritize and remediate security findings with engineering teams.
• Evaluate emerging AI security tools to improve security posture.
• Influence engineering to integrate security into development processes.
• Mentor engineers on secure coding and threat modeling.
• Contribute to security research and AI security best practices.
• Help advance the organization's AI security strategy.
