Job summary

The Hartford seeks a Staff Software Engineer (Hybrid) to design and deliver AI-enabled solutions across multiple platforms. You will develop scalable, GenAI-powered applications and integrations using cloud platforms (primarily AWS) and modern tech stacks, collaborating with actuaries, product owners, and architects.

You will mentor engineers, drive best practices, and advance the AI-first engineering strategy while delivering secure, maintainable software in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in software development.
• Expertise in at least one modern language (Java/Python/C#/Go).
• Strong experience building full-stack apps using Angular, React, Node.js, and RESTful APIs.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and implementation of robust, scalable software solutions across platforms.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and teams to define technical requirements and scope projects.
• Mentor junior engineers with code reviews and best practices.
• Drive CI/CD, testing, and release management with AI-assisted development practices.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues to ensure stability and performance.
• Contribute to evolving software architecture and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle from conceptualization to deployment.
