Podium is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to design and scale our AI Agent platform, a powerful system that autonomously interacts with customers and handles millions of conversations each month. You will build software that enables local businesses to manage complex interactions automatically, book more appointments, and serve customers across voice, SMS, and chat channels.

This role thrives in fast-paced, iterative environments and targets measurable business impact.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 1+ years deploying and maintaining AI agents in production.
• Proven success designing and maintaining distributed/high-throughput systems.
• Strong problem-solving and ability to navigate ambiguity in large-scale systems.
• Excellent communication across teams and across the stack.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale the AI Agent platform for high-volume, real-time workflows.
• Design and implement APIs, services, and infrastructure for multi-turn, cross-channel interactions.
• Own architecture, implementation, deployment, and reliability lifecycles.
• Prototype rapidly and iterate with live data to improve performance and UX.
• Implement observability, monitoring, and best practices for reliability in production.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and AI/ML scientists to deliver end-to-end features.
