Job summary

Reuters is seeking a Staff Software Engineer – AI to lead hands-on development of AI-enabled backend services in a hybrid role across multiple U.S. sites.

You will architect and deliver production-grade C#/.NET platforms, and build AI/ML pipelines with Python for LLM-driven workflows. You will guide cross-functional teams, implement scalable distributed systems, and ensure reliability, security, and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of progressive software engineering experience including hands-on production systems.
• Hands-on C#/.NET production development experience and Python AI/ML experience.
• Experience delivering AI features into production, including LLM-powered apps and retrieval/orchestration.
• Strong distributed-systems background with microservices, REST/GraphQL, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and deliver production backend and platform services using C#/.NET and PostgreSQL.
• Build production AI/ML capabilities with Python, including LLM integration and orchestration.
• Lead hands-on AI engineering initiatives across product, infra, and security controls.
• Design scalable, high-throughput distributed systems with caching, queues, and failover.
• Develop retrieval, vector stores, embeddings, and semantic search for large audits.
