Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to join the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences team. The role focuses on building scalable AI systems, training and inference for foundation models, and deploying AI components across the enterprise.

You will collaborate with engineers, researchers, TPMs, and product managers to deliver state-of-the-art AI capabilities while upholding responsible AI practices and governance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/AI/EE/CE with relevant AI/ML experience.
• 8+ years of programming in Python/Go/Scala/CUDA/Java.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies (AWS, HuggingFace, PyTorch).
• Develop foundation model optimization techniques for scalable AI systems.
• Contribute to the long-term AI systems roadmap and governance.
• Set enterprise-wide AI architecture direction and standards.
• Own design/integration of model routing, caching, and orchestration for multi-model workloads.
• Champion responsible AI principles including transparency and fairness.
