Job summary

Acquia is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to join our Data & Intelligence function. You will build the retrieval, graph, and inference layers on our data platform and develop agentic and deterministic systems that turn data signals into customer actions.

The role spans observability, core data platform, and insights, collaborating with product and platform teams. You will work hands-on to design, ship, and iterate production AI systems, with a focus on scalable, cost-aware solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years shipping AI/ML systems to production.
• Strong programming fundamentals and Python proficiency.
• Fluency with data at scale: advanced SQL, dbt, and distributed engines.
• Experience with retrieval, context engineering, and graph data principles.
• Hands-on with agentic systems and durable workflows in production.

Responsibilities

• Write and ship production AI code daily as an active contributor.
• Lead work on fast customer context retrieval across semantic retrieval and knowledge graphs.
• Build inference layers reading from Iceberg lakehouse and expose signals via contracts.
• Turn signals into actionable workflows with human review where appropriate.
• Select appropriate models or deterministic code; manage inference costs.
