Job summary

Acquia is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to join our Data & Intelligence function. Acquia runs a large Drupal-based digital experience footprint and uses AI/ML to turn data signals into customer and team actions.

We expect you to design, build, and ship production AI systems, focusing on retrieval, graph/inference layers, and observable performance. Our stack includes Python, SQL, dbt, Iceberg lakehouse on S3, and varied model providers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering, incl. 3+ years shipping AI/ML systems to production.
• Fluency in Python; strong SQL and data-wrangling skills.
• Experience with AI/ML model deployment and observability.
• Experience with retrieval, graphs, or knowledge-graph based systems.

Responsibilities

• Write and ship production AI code daily; be an active contributor.
• Lead retrieval and context retrieval across semantic retrieval and knowledge graphs.
• Build the inference and signal layer; integrate with data lakehouse and contracts.
• Turn signals into actionable workflows with human review when needed.
• Select appropriate tools for workloads; manage inference cost.
• Own evaluation and observability for AI systems; prove signal soundness.
• Set patterns for teams; align with product and business leaders to ship systems.
