Job summary

Acquia is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to join our Data & Intelligence function. You will build the retrieval, graph, and inference layers on our data platform, enabling agentic and deterministic systems that turn signals into action for customers and teams.

This hands-on role spans observability, core data platform, and insights. You will work across product and platform teams, shipping production systems and raising AI engineering standards throughout the org.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering, including 3+ years shipping AI or ML systems to production.
• Strong programming fundamentals with proficiency in at least one language used for AI and data work (Python preferred).
• Fluency with data at scale: advanced SQL, dbt or similar transformation layers, and distributed query engines.

Responsibilities

• Write and ship production AI code daily.
• Lead retrieval and context engineering across semantic retrieval, indexing, and knowledge graphs.
• Build inference and signal layers reading from a lakehouse and exposing signals via contracts.
• Turn signals into actionable workflows with human review when needed.
• Choose appropriate tool for workloads and manage inference costs.
• Own evaluation and observability for AI systems.
• Set patterns and ship systems aligning with company goals.
