Job summary

Zoom Seattle is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to develop intelligent systems that reason, plan, and execute complex workflows. You will design agentic systems, integrating LLM intelligence with robust backend infrastructure to support Zoom AI Companion's evolution.

The role requires 5+ years in AI/ML engineering, strong programming skills, and cloud and Kubernetes experience. This is a hybrid position with equity and a competitive total compensation package.

Qualifications

• 5 years of AI/ML and backend/distributed systems experience.
• Experience building scalable, production-grade AI or agent systems.
• Strong coding skills in Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, C, or Rust.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containers, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of software architecture, observability, and performance optimization.
• Qualification in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Design agentic systems that manage complex, multi-step tasks and autonomous decision-making workflows.
• Build scalable, production-grade AI systems that integrate LLM intelligence with backend infrastructure.
• Ensure safe and reliable interactions between AI agents and external tools and data sources.
• Contribute to agent memory, personalization, and quality evaluation systems.
• Optimize performance across distributed systems balancing quality and latency at scale.
• Collaborate with engineering, research, and product teams to deliver AI features for millions of users.
• Incorporate new AI developments to keep Zoom AI Companion competitive.
