Job summary

Asana is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to advance the AI developer experience, empowering engineers to move faster with AI-assisted coding tools. You will shape technical direction for the AI Developer Productivity team and build across editors, IDEs, CLIs, code review, and agent ecosystems.

You will lead design of AI-augmented workflows, scalable autonomous cloud agents, and reliable integrations, partnering with teams to reduce toil and increase engineering velocity.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with leadership of complex technical projects across teams.
• Experience building developer tools, internal platforms, infrastructure, IDE/editor integrations, CLIs, or workflow automation.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex) or related agent ecosystems.
• Experience building evaluation and quality frameworks for AI-generated outputs.
• Strong systems design skills and pragmatic decision-making in changing environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and build AI-augmented workflows and systems to help developers understand codebases and increase velocity.
• Scale autonomous cloud agents to reduce toil and enable engineers to focus on high-leverage work.
• Develop IDE/editor/CLI integrations for AI-assisted development in daily engineering tasks.
• Create reusable agent skills, tools, context, and integrations across teams.
• Improve AI-assisted code review workflows for faster, higher-quality feedback.
