Job summary

NBCUniversal is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development of AI-enabled systems at scale. This fully remote role focuses on APIs, web frontends, and agentic AI to accelerate production value across TV, film, parks, and other business groups.

The role requires designing architectures, deploying to cloud platforms, and collaborating across a matrixed organization. 6+ years of backend/full-stack experience and strong Python/AWS/ML familiarity are expected.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend or full-stack development experience.
• Ability to design for systemic problems and deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Proven track record delivering an application from idea to delivery with cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience with Python for application development, AWS, databases, SQL.
• Familiarity with ML practices related to foundation models and AI tooling.
• Ability to navigate a matrixed org and translate business needs into technical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Research and test new AI technologies and translate capabilities into business ROI.
• Evaluate AI proposals and avoid AI for non-problems.
• Build backends and data layers with API standards and NBCU gateways.
• Deploy and maintain databases across SQL/NoSQL.
• Design features from UI to APIs, ensure code quality and testing.
• Collaborate in a matrixed organization and deploy solutions efficiently.
• Deploy to cloud platforms and troubleshoot issues.
• Use code- and test-generation tools to accelerate delivery.
