Job summary

Edison Scientific is seeking an Agent Engineer in New York to own the development and maintenance of production AI agents, Kosmos, and prototype new capabilities with internal science and engineering teams.

You will work with customers to understand workflows and validate what you build, while focusing on making agents more capable, reliable, and broadly useful across life sciences. Strong Python/TypeScript skills and interdisciplinary collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4+ years of professional software engineering with production experience.
• Experience building LLM-powered tools or applications: prompting, context engineering, agent architectures, evaluation frameworks.
• Strong foundation in CS/Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, or related field.
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript; quickly pick up new tools/frameworks.
• Ability to work across engineering, science, and product teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and maintain AI agents powering Edison’s platform from prototype to production.
• Collaborate with internal science and engineering teams on agent architectures, prompting strategies, tool integrations, and evaluation frameworks.
• Develop reusable infrastructure like agent skills, tool-use pipelines, benchmarks to improve every agent on the platform.
• Spend ~30% time with R&D partners to validate workflows and bring insights back to the team.
• Translate field insights into product direction and prioritize future work.
