Job summary

Hillwood Communities is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its Accounting team in Dallas, TX. The role spans accounts payable, project accounting, and corporate accounting, supporting the financial management of active development projects.

You will own payables workflows, support month-end close, and serve as a key financial resource to project teams. The position emphasizes collaboration across departments, process improvement, and accurate financial reporting for residential development

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
• Minimum 2+ years of accounts payable and/or project accounting experience.
• Experience with major ERP systems (JD Edwards preferred; other ERP systems also relevant).
• Strong Excel capabilities and data analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable and vendor management, including processing invoices and managing pay apps.
• Administer corporate card program and expense reporting processes.
• Manage month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and revenue recognition for designated projects.
• Prepare loan draw requests and capital call notices; reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Collaborate with FP&A to ensure GAAP-based financial reporting and budgets.
• Identify automation opportunities and participate in system testing and process improvements.
