Job summary

West Virginia Public Broadcasting is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant to join the Financial Office. The role handles accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and all aspects of OASIS, including purchasing.

The successful candidate will prepare and maintain financial records, support expenditure reports, budgeting, and provide information for audits. This position emphasizes accuracy, compliance with GAAP, and teamwork in a public broadcasting environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or 3+ years accounting experience.
• Knowledge of state government and nonprofit finances.
• Interest in public broadcasting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cost accounting and related duties for the organization.
• Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
• Maintains the general ledger.
• Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
• Reconciles bank accounts and cash disbursement accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
• Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices; supports auditing activities.
• Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
• Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems.
• Manages the purchasing and invoicing system.
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
