Job summary

Careerwebsite is seeking a Staff Accountant for a Public Accounting Firm. This in-person role involves tax preparation, nonprofit audits, bookkeeping, payroll, and general client accounting services for a diverse client base.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. CPA eligibility is preferred but not required, with growth opportunities and a clear path toward CPA designation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred; strong fresh graduates considered.
• CPA eligibility or progress toward CPA designation preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare individual and business federal, state, and local tax returns.
• Assist with tax research, planning, and client tax questions.
• Perform audits and other accounting services for nonprofits.
• Prepare workpapers, financial statements, and schedules per standards.
• Provide ongoing accounting and bookkeeping services for clients.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts.
• Communicate with clients to obtain information and resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate workpapers and client records.
• Stay current with tax laws and accounting standards.
