Responsibilities include preparing tax returns, assisting with tax planning, audits for nonprofits, and maintaining client records while staying current with tax laws and standards.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of accounting experience preferred; strong recent graduates considered.
• Familiarity with individual and business tax returns is preferred.
• CPA eligibility or progress toward CPA designation is preferred but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple client engagements and meet deadlines.

Public Accounting Firm | Full-Time

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our public accounting team. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse client base and gain hands-on experience in tax preparation, nonprofit auditing, bookkeeping, payroll, and general client accounting services.

Responsibilities

• Prepare individual and business federal, state, and local tax returns.
• Assist with tax research, planning, and responding to client tax questions.
• Perform audits and other accounting services for nonprofit organizations.
• Prepare workpapers, financial statements, and supporting schedules in accordance with professional standards.
• Provide ongoing accounting and bookkeeping services for clients.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts.
• Communicate directly with clients to obtain information, answer questions, and resolve accounting and tax issues.
• Maintain accurate, organized, and timely workpapers and client records.
• Stay current with applicable tax laws, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 1-3 years of accounting or related accounting experience preferred; strong recent graduates will also be considered.
• Familiarity with individual and business tax returns is preferred.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple client engagements and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
