Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Staff Accountant in Providence, RI for an on-site, permanent role. You will support day-to-day accounting, month-end and year-end close, and project accounting including client billing and WIP reporting in a project-based architecture environment.

The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Relevant experience with project accounting and billing is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Analytical, problem-solving and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize.
• Independent worker who also collaborates in a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and perform general ledger entries.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Prepare and reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with financial statement preparation and internal reporting.
• Monitor expenses, accruals, and fixed assets.
• Support budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses.
• Process project accounting activities, including tracking costs and revenue.
• Prepare and process client invoices based on project milestones and billing schedules.
• Monitor accounts receivable and assist with collections.
• Support tax preparation and audit documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers to resolve billing discrepancies.
• Record vendor invoices and process payments.
