Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong month-end close and general ledger accounting experience.
• Nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with grants, government funding, or healthcare reimbursement is a plus.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end close activities including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Support program managers with budget-to-actual analysis and financial guidance.
• Assist with grant and contract reporting requirements.
• Prepare audit schedules and support annual audit activities.
• Monitor funding sources and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Collaborate with finance leadership on special projects and strategic initiatives.

About The Opportunity

CFS is partnering with Family Service of Rhode Island to identify a talented Senior Accountant to join their growing finance team. This position will play a critical role supporting a portfolio of programs and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in a complex nonprofit environment.
