Job summary

Vision Point Systems, Inc. is seeking a Staff Accountant for our Fairfax, VA office (moving to Chantilly, VA in the fall). The ideal candidate will ensure financial accuracy, streamline project-based billing, and support project management teams.

The role involves month-end close, reconciliations, and GAAP-compliant reporting using Unanet; a bachelor's degree and strong Excel skills are required. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience in government contracting.
• 1–2+ years of hands-on experience using Unanet for project-based accounting.
• Hands-on experience with monthly end close and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs.
• Strong analytical thinking and exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Monthly A/R: process and post all monthly customer invoices and cash receipts.
• Accounts Payable: review vendor invoices, proper GL coding, and PO/expense flow.
• Month-End Close: execute close processes, post journal entries, resolve discrepancies.
• Reconciliations: complete balance sheet and bank reconciliations; fix inconsistencies.
• Unanet Operations: manage project accounting, time & expense tracking, billing, reporting.
• Financial Reporting: prepare variance explanations, P&L statements, budget schedules.
• Compliance: ensure GAAP compliance and support internal/external audits and filings.
