Job summary

Vision Point Systems, Inc. is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Fairfax, VA office (moving to Chantilly, VA in the fall).

The successful candidate will ensure financial accuracy, streamline project-based billing, and support project management teams. Key duties include monthly invoicing and cash receipts, AP coding, month-end close, reconciliations, using Unanet for project accounting, and preparing financial reports in GAAP compliance.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience in government contracting.
• 1-2+ years of hands-on experience using Unanet for project-based accounting.
• Hands-on experience with monthly end close and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field from an accredited university.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially PivotTables and VLOOKUPs.
• Strong analytical thinking and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Monthly A/R: Process and post all monthly customer invoices and post cash receipts.
• Accounts Payable: Review vendor invoices and provide the proper GL coding, including PO/expense reimbursements; handle bi-weekly checks.
• Month-End Close: Execute month-end close, post journal entries, and resolve discrepancies.
• Reconciliations: Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations; investigate inconsistencies.
• Unanet Operations: Use Unanet daily to manage project accounting, time/expense tracking, billing, and reporting.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare variance explanations, P&L statements, and budget schedules.
• Compliance: Ensure GAAP compliance and support internal/external audits and filings.
