Job summary

Vision Point Systems, Inc. seeks a Staff Accountant to join our Fairfax, VA office (moving to Chantilly, VA in the fall). The role focuses on ensuring financial accuracy, streamlining project-based billing, and supporting project management teams.

You will manage monthly A/R and AP, perform month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting, using Unanet daily to support project accounting, time tracking, and billing processes. Strong Excel skills and GAAP knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience in a government contracting environment.
• 1-2+ years of hands-on experience using Unanet for project-based accounting.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or similar field.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (PivotTables and VLOOKUPs).
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Process and post monthly customer invoices and cash receipts (A/R).
• Review vendor invoices, code to GL, and manage PO and amendments in Unanet.
• Execute month-end close, post journal entries, and resolve discrepancies.
• Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations; ensure accurate reporting.
• Manage project accounting, time/expense tracking, billing, and reporting in Unanet.
• Prepare financial documents including variance explanations and P&L statements; support audits.
