Job summary

Mitutoyo America Corporation, a leader in precision measuring tools, seeks a Staff Accountant to join the Corporate Accounting team at our Aurora, Illinois headquarters. This role balances daily bookkeeping with process improvements, tax support, and ensuring compliance in a global organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required in accounting/finance or related field.
• Strong grasp of GAAP and journal entries.
• Experience with reconciliations and tax compliance.
• Knowledge of sales tax rules and regulatory reporting.
• Excellent analytical, detail-oriented, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Excel and accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post daily journal entries and analyze accounting transactions.
• Reconcile bank accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Perform monthly reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Review employee expenses and supplier invoices for policy compliance.
• Administer AP system workflows, cost centers, approver lists and audit rules.
• Manage corporate credit card program and reconciliations.
• Prepare and file sales tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.
• Support income tax filings and 1099 processing.
• Assist with tax research and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with government agencies and third-party providers.
• Cross-train and provide backup support within Accounting.
