Job summary

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
• Perform balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
• Review general ledger activity and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with bank reconciliations and cash-related accounting.
• Support AP and AR accounting activities as needed.
• Assist with financial reporting and supporting schedules.
• Process and record financial transactions.

Staff Accountant

Location: Tampa, FL – Onsite

Pay: $28–$33/hour ($58K-$68K)

Position Overview

Hiregy is partnering with an established Tampa-based organization to add an experienced Staff Accountant to its accounting team.

This role is best suited for someone who has already been operating as a Staff Accountant and can step into the position with limited training. The team needs someone who is comfortable owning core accounting responsibilities, working independently, and accurately explaining the accounting work they have performed.

Responsibilities

• Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
• Perform balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
• Review general ledger activity and investigate discrepancies
• Assist with bank reconciliations and cash-related accounting
• Support AP and AR accounting activities as needed
• Assist with financial reporting and supporting schedules
• Process and record financial transactions
• Assist with audit preparation and documentation
• Maintain accurate accounting records
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Work closely with accounting leadership and other departments
• Assist with additional accounting projects as needed

Nice to Have

• Property management, housing, HOA, real estate, or related industry experience
• Experience working in a high-volume transaction environment
• Experience with multiple accounting systems or ERP platforms

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2+ years of hands-on Staff Accountant/general accounting experience
• Strong experience with:
  • General ledger accounting
  • Journal entries
  • Account reconciliations
  • Month-end close
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
• Strong Excel skills
• Ability to independently research and resolve accounting issues, ability to work independently without extensive training
• Must be comfortable working onsite in Tampa
