Job summary

CFS in St. Petersburg, FL is seeking a Staff Accountant to join a stable energy and fuel company. You will manage general ledger entries, reconciliations, and month-end closes, partnering with leadership to support financial reporting and decision making.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting, 2+ years in accounting, GAAP knowledge, ERP experience, and advanced Excel (PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP). CPA or pursuing licensure is preferred and there is room for career growth into senior

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 2+ years of accounting experience in corporate or public accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
• Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP.
• CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger integrity through accurate journal entries and account analysis.
• Lead reconciliations and variance analyses to ensure financial accuracy.
• Staff Accountant will support timely month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare financial reports and assist with statement preparation.
• Oversee key balance sheet accounts, including cash, fixed assets, accruals, and prepaids.
• Partner with auditors and contribute to process and control enhancements.
