Job summary

Milestone Electric, Air & Plumbing is seeking a Staff Accountant II to maintain and analyze financial records and support the month-end close. This hands-on role covers journal entries, reconciliations, financial statement analysis, and assisting Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff.

You will work directly with the Controller to ensure accuracy, identify discrepancies early, and meet deadlines. You will partner with Sales, Purchasing, and Operations to strengthen internal controls,

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in accounting or finance preferred.
• Three or more years of accounting experience.
• Analytical and solutions‑oriented, with the ability to investigate issues and resolve problems independently.
• Experience with month‑end close processes.
• Experience supporting audit requests and preparing schedules.
• Working knowledge of AP and AR lifecycles.
• Solid understanding of debits, credits, and general ledger structure.
• Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or similar.
• Strong Excel skills including formulas, filtering, pivot tables and lookups.
• Experience with balance sheet reconciliations including prepaid expenses, accruals, depreciation, and amortization.

Responsibilities

• Support day to day accounting function across the general ledger, ensuring transactions are accurate and properly recorded.
• Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules as part of the month‑end close.
• Own assigned close tasks and meet deadlines within an established monthly close process.
• Research discrepancies and unusual transactions, identify root causes, and recommend appropriate corrections.
• Ad hoc reporting & analysis to help solve business problems.
• Prepare documentation and support requests for external audits.
• Partner with Sales, Purchasing, & Operations teams to strengthen internal controls and communicate procedures.
