B. Riley Securities, Inc. is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant I to support the Securities team in Memphis, TN, reporting to an Accounting Manager.

The role involves month-end close assistance, compiling financial information, and handling various accounting tasks in a hybrid work setting. The ideal candidate has at least one year of accounting experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, and proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook).

• Minimum one-year of relevant work experience in accounting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365; Excel and Outlook.
• NetSuite experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and prepare general ledger account reconciliations, analyze monthly account activity, and prepare related journal entries.
• Prepare cash receipt entries for check deposit, wire, and ACH transactions.
• Prepare journal entries for revenue recognition and coordinate with commissions team on direct cash revenue transactions.
• Prepare bank and cash account reconciliations on a weekly basis, assemble and scan support documents, and research cash transactions to determine general ledger coding.
• Assist with receivables and prepare accounts receivable reporting for associated business segments.

We are seeking a full-timeStaff Accountant I with a minimum of one-year experience to work with our Securities team. The successful candidate will report directly to an Accounting Manager. The position entails assisting the accounting/finance department with month-end close, providing support in compiling financial information, and completing special projects. This is a hybrid role based in Memphis, TN.

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following

• Maintain and prepare general ledger account reconciliations, analyze monthly account activity, and prepare related journal entries.
• Prepare cash receipt entries for check deposit, wire, and ACH transactions.
• Prepare journal entries for revenue recognition and coordinate with commissions team on direct cash revenue transactions.
• Prepare bank and cash account reconciliations on a weekly basis, assemble and scan support documents, and research cash transactions to determine general ledger coding.
• Assist with receivables and prepare accounts receivable reporting for associated business segments.
• Assist with intercompany account reconciliations, update occupancy cost share allocations, and prepare related journal entries.
• Assist with monthly reporting by generating system reports and reconciling inventory positions.
• Assist with preparation and filing of state and local personal property tax reports.
• Assist with preparation of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations by generating standard NetSuite reports and assembling support documentation.
• Assist management with audits, research inquiries, prepare schedules, and generate reports.
• Process assigned tasks timely and in accordance with daily requirements and monthly close schedule.
• Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
• Accomplish accounting department and organizational goals by completing tasks as needed.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education, Experience and Skills Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
• Minimum one-year of relevant work experience in accounting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365; Excel and Outlook.
• NetSuite experience is a plus.
• Must be able to perform responsibilities as a team member.
• Must possess a basic understanding of the general ledger close process and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Self-starter with good communication skills; deadline oriented with good time management and organizational skills
