Job summary

Inuvo, Inc. is seeking a Staff Accountant to manage accounts payable, support monthly close, and assist budgeting and forecasting in a hybrid work environment. The ideal candidate has a solid accounting foundation, is comfortable with systems and data, and is eager to grow within a publicly traded company.

The role emphasizes vendor management, SOX controls, and collaboration with the budgeting process, using NetSuite Planning and Budgeting and NetSuite ERP. Strong Excel skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with significant accounting coursework.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP accrual accounting.
• 3+ years accounting experience.
• Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables) and proficiency with Microsoft 365.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounts payable cycle – vendor onboarding, invoice coding and approvals, and scheduled payment runs.
• Maintain the vendor master file, including verification of bank detail changes to prevent payment fraud.
• Monitor AP aging and upcoming cash needs, and prepare annual Form 1099s.
• Serve as the primary contact for vendor inquiries and maintain solid vendor relationships.
• Complete assigned close tasks on schedule, including accruals, prepaid amortization, and recurring journal entries in NetSuite.
• Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts monthly and resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Prepare variance analysis for assigned accounts and expense lines, with clear explanations of the drivers.
• Support the annual budget and periodic forecasts in NetSuite Planning and Budgeting, including loading and validating actuals and maintaining account and department mappings.
• Prepare monthly budget-to-actual reporting and support spend analysis and cost-savings initiatives.
• Perform assigned SOX internal controls and keep supporting documentation audit-ready.
• Prepare schedules and support for quarterly reviews and the annual audit.
• Identify manual, repetitive work and recommend automation and AI-enabled improvements, with appropriate review over accuracy and data security.
• Assist with system enhancements and special projects as needed.
