Job summary

Backcountry seeks a Staff Accountant in Cottonwood Heights, UT to own core month-end close tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and revenue and cash cycle management across multi-channel platforms.

You will build well-documented reconciliations, advance NetSuite proficiency, and identify at least one automation opportunity in your first year, within a lean, fast-moving team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 0–3 years of public or corporate accounting experience (internships count).
• Solid US GAAP fundamentals, including accruals and account reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.
• Strong written, verbal, and analytical skills.
• Accuracy under tight deadlines with the ability to juggle multiple priorities during month-end close.
• Willingness to learn and curiosity about incorporating AI into accounting workflows.
• Able to work in-office in Cottonwood Heights, Utah on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as part of the monthly close checklist.
• Reconcile bank accounts, card statements, and multi-channel payment platforms.
• Own the revenue and cash cycle across payment channels.
• Pull and analyze NetSuite data for reporting and variance analysis.
• Gather supporting documentation from business owners and cross-functional teams.
• Support acquisition integration, internal controls, and other team projects.
• Identify and streamline manual processes using AI tools or automation.
• Maintain clean, well-documented workpapers and reconciliations.
