Job summary

SimPL Freight Solutions is seeking a Staff Accountant to support reconciliations, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting activities under the supervision of the Controller and finance team.

You will contribute to process improvements, ensure timely payments and accurate classifications, and collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve questions. This role offers growth opportunities within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
• At least 1 year of relevant accounting experience
• Strong math skills and confidence working with financial data, calculations, and reconciliations
• Excellent attention to detail in reviewing numbers and verifying accuracy
• Proven ability to double-check work and investigate errors before task completion
• Strong Excel skills with formulas, lookups, and pivot tables
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to understand account balances
• Clear, proactive communication with colleagues and vendors
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Integrity and discretion with confidential financial information
• Interest in improving processes and learning new systems

Responsibilities

• Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable reconciliations and analyze discrepancies
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve outstanding items timely
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes including automation opportunities
• Partner with Controller and finance to analyze business performance and improve reporting
• Document and update accounting policies and procedures as processes evolve
• Ensure invoices are approved, payments timely, and expenses properly classified
• Maintain sound accounting practices and internal controls with Controller
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve questions and discrepancies
• Support additional accounting projects and finance team needs as they arise
