Job summary

Ocean Solutions seeks an early-career Staff Accountant to partner with senior management across AP/AR, reconciliations, payroll accounting, and financial reporting. You will support month-end close and collaborate with teams to improve data integrity in a fast-paced tech environment.

The ideal candidate has a solid accounting foundation, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines in Ashburn, VA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or closely related field required.
• 2-4 years of progressively responsible professional accounting or finance experience.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and MS Office; ERP experience.
• Experience with NetSuite or another ERP system preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned accounts payable and receivable activities, reviewing transactions for accuracy and documenting proper accounting treatment.
• Prepare and post journal entries; perform reconciliations; research and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate payroll accounting activities, validate payroll data and maintain supporting documentation.
• Prepare information and schedules for state and local tax filings and ensure timely compliance.
• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close responsibilities including accruals and analyses.
• Prepare financial reports and analyses; communicate findings and recommendations to management.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and internal controls.
• Respond to questions from clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders with timely guidance.
• Collaborate with other departments to improve data integrity and ERP information.
• Evaluate processes, identify improvements, and implement changes with stakeholder input.
• Manage accounting projects with limited supervision and meet deadlines.
