Job summary

HSP Direct, based in Ashburn, VA, seeks a Staff Accountant to join our corporate accounting team. You will support billing, reconciliations, accounts payable, month-end close, reporting, and other day-to-day financial operations.

You’ll work with the Controller and finance team to maintain accurate records, resolve questions, improve processes, and enable timely financial reporting in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and core accounting processes.
• Experience with billing, accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, month‑end close, or reporting.
• Strong Excel, organization, attention to detail, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Clear communication skills and ability to work with internal teams, customers, and vendors.
• Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize work, and adapt in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare customer billing and complete monthly billing reconciliations.
• Process accounts payable paperwork, deposits, and related accounting documentation.
• Prepare schedules, sales reports, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Assist with month‑end close, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Research discrepancies, resolve issues, and communicate with internal teams, customers, and vendors.
• Support process improvements, automation opportunities, and other accounting and finance projects.
