Job summary

LHH is seeking a Staff Accountant for a growing company located in the Chicago Loop to expand experience in general ledger accounting, month-end close, fixed assets, and full-cycle accounting responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of accounting experience and familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP systems, with strong Excel skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience in a Staff Accountant or similar role.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 strongly preferred; experience with comparable ERP systems will be considered.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.
• Experience with fixed asset accounting preferred.
• Exposure to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP functions.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger records.
• Perform monthly balance sheet and bank account reconciliations.
• Manage fixed asset additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations.
• Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable as needed.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and reconciling items.
• Assist with financial reporting and supporting schedules.
• Analyze general ledger accounts and prepare reconciliations.
• Monitor revenue and expenses for accurate accounting treatment.
• Support budgeting and forecasting including variance analysis.
• Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation.
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports for management.
