Job summary

8am is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our growing team in Austin, TX. The role focuses on month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations, reporting to the GL Accounting Manager.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of accounting experience, a bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, and strong Excel/ERP skills (Workday a plus). Competitive salary offered with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years accounting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance preferred.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, verbal, listening and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Confident self-starter with ability to work independently and with other departments.
• Experience with ERP systems (Workday experience a plus).
• Demonstrated understanding of financial/accounting principles and systems.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end close functions for multiple entities, including journal entries.
• Analyze and book accruals for invoices, POs, contracts, and credit card transactions.
• Reconcile, provide supporting documentation and detailed analysis for balance sheet accounts.
• Review variances and provide notes from analyses for cost center statements.
• Perform actual to budget/forecast income statement review for assigned cost center.
