Job summary

Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc (ESAero) is seeking a Staff Accountant to support month-end close, financial reporting, and compliance. You will perform reconciliations, journal entries, and improve processes to ensure data integrity.

The ideal candidate has at least three years of accounting experience, strong detail orientation, and proactive problem solving. On-site work in San Luis Obispo, CA, with comprehensive benefits and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances or discrepancies.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals and prepaid expenses.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes as needed.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP standards, and internal controls.
• Participate in audits by preparing required documentation and responding to auditor requests.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial accuracy and data integrity.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and help streamline accounting operations.
• Support budgeting and forecasting efforts through financial data analysis.
