Job summary

Bass Pro Shops is seeking a Staff Accountant – Fixed Assets to ensure accurate recording of asset transactions. You will assist with month-end close, capitalize assets, and support capital budgets across business units.

The role emphasizes strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with management. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and 2+ years of related experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end activities for fixed assets and construction accounting.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts related to fixed assets and construction.
• Prepare periodic data and reporting for internal and external users.
• All other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

(Objective/Purpose of Position): The Staff Accountant – Fixed Assets position is responsible for assisting with accurate and timely recording of accounting transactions related to fixed assets as well as helping with the capital expenditure request process and budget development for all business units.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

(List in order of importance, indicate the essential responsibility and the % of time dedicated to each. (Cumulative total Essential and Non-Essential Functions must add up to 100%, no responsibility should be less than 5%)

• Assist with various month-end activities related to fixed assets and construction accounting, including the closing of sub-ledgers, preparation of various journal entries and review of general ledger account balances. 25%
• Support the development and approval process of the annual capital budgets and forecasts for both operational and strategic projects for all business units. 25%
• Participate in the accounting for projects under construction, including billing developers, preparing reporting for senior management and ensuring the proper capitalization of the assets in the Fixed Asset System. 20%
• Ensure timely reconciliation of general ledger accounts related to fixed assets and construction activities. 20%
• Prepare periodic data and reporting as requested by internal and external users. 10%
• ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
