Job summary

NAVY EXCHANGE SERVICE COMMAND (NEXCOM) in Virginia Beach seeks a technical accounting advisor to coordinate and optimize accounting functions for the NEXCOM program portfolio, including military sealift, lodging, and NGIS programs. The role supports general and subsidiary ledgers, depreciation, and year-end close activities across multiple locations.

Candidates should have 5 years of relevant experience and strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and financial reporting.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or auditing with related courses.
• General and specialized accounting knowledge across ledgers, depreciation, and financial reporting.
• Possession of a four-year degree with accounting major or 24 accounting credits may substitute experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and analyze General and Subsidiary Ledgers and depreciation control.
• Coordinate year-end inventories and audits with CPAs.
• Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements for NEXCOM lines.
• Develop and monitor accounting systems aligned with current practices.
• Review procedures for productivity and efficiency improvements.
• Liaise with division and program accounting personnel to resolve issues.
