Shenandoah University's Office of Accounting seeks applicants for a Staff Accountant position. This is a full-time benefited position located in downtown Winchester, VA.

The Staff Accountant will support financial operations through daily, bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks, including reconciliations, vendor payments, and journal entries, with potential overtime during peak periods such as month-end close and fiscal year-end close.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
• Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
• Detail-oriented, accurate, organized, and efficient.
• Strong analytical and reconciliation skills for reviewing financial transactions.

Responsibilities

• Enter budget transfers and process batches; manage utility payments and vendor statements.
• Reconcile bi-weekly payroll and post payroll journal entries.
• Assist with monthly and quarterly postings including CIP, lease payments, Virginia sales tax, interest accruals, and depreciation.
• Prepare recurring quarterly journal entries such as VEC entries.
• Review asset capitalization, non-capitalized assets, and repairs/maintenance expenses monthly.
• Review monthly insurance statements and manage liquidity account adjustments.
• Support annual unclaimed property reporting and regulatory compliance initiatives.
