Cain Watters & Associates, LLC seeks a Staff Accountant to support monthly accounting, bank reconciliations, and preparation of balance sheets and income statements for a growing CPA firm serving national clients.

You will work under the Accounting Manager, handle month-end closings, liaise with clients, and document financial records using QuickBooks and Excel. This full-time role offers a comprehensive benefits package and remote-work flexibility with approval.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of accounting experience required
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution preferred
  • Multi-client CPA firm experience preferred
  • QuickBooks software experience preferred
  • Proficient in both Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Team player with positive attitude

Responsibilities

  • Work independently on monthly and quarterly financial statements including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts
  • Exercise discretion and authority in the preparation of after the fact payroll summaries and record journal entries
  • Record journal entries to reconcile balance sheet accounts to supporting documents
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations in year-end Forms 1096 & 1099
  • Work with clients to facilitate completion of financial statements
  • Manage multiple clients and organize supporting documents to meet production goals

Job description

Summary/Objective

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant is responsible for monthly accounting including bank reconciliation, general ledger and preparation of a balance sheet and income statement for a growing CPA firm specializing in financial planning to national clientele.

Essential Functions
  1. Exercise discretion and authority in the preparation of accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports, to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined within the department

  2. Establish records of accounts and input entries into proper accounts

  3. Document and ensure proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies

  4. Prepare month-end journal entries and assist in compilation of financial statements, reconcile bank statements and general ledgers.

  5. Work independently on the completion of account reconciliations monthly for balance sheet accounts including the capital projects in progress accounts and miscellaneous revenue accounts

  6. Perform a crucial, first-line role in the monthly accounting services

Education and Experience
  • 2-5 years of experience in accounting field required
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution preferred
  • Multi-client CPA firm experience preferred
  • QuickBooks software experience preferred
  • Proficient in both Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Act as a team player and demonstrate a positive attitude

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing may be required.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed based on management’s approval. The ability to work remotely is allowed based on management’s approval.

Compensation

Minimum: $65,000.00 - Maximum: $78,000.00 USD
