Job summary

Atchley & Associates, LLP is seeking a Senior Accountant in Wisconsin who will manage full cycle client accounting services and produce GAAP-based financial statements. The role requires strong attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while coordinating with staff.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's in Accounting, 3 years of accounting experience, CPA or CPA-candidate preferred, and proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Xero, Gusto, and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years accounting experience, in public accounting or combination with industry experience.
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks Online; familiarity with Bill.com, Xero, Gusto, Fixed Asset Manager, Workflow, Adobe Acrobat, and CaseWare.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full cycle client accounting services.
  • Record all financial transactions including accruals, deferrals, and adjustments.
  • Perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare and close the monthly accounting books and produce statements.
  • Oversee payroll and payroll tax filings for accuracy and compliance.
  • Allocate income and expenses using class tracking and/or job costing.
  • Maintain proactive client relationships with clear communication.
  • Advise clients on best practices and process improvements.
  • Assign and review staff level work.
  • Set up new accounting files with chart of accounts.
  • Prepare and review payroll and payroll tax forms (W2, W3, 1099, 1096, 940).
  • Prepare and review quarterly payroll forms (941, 944) and unemployment reports.
  • Prepare and process sales tax returns and Personal Property Tax Renditions.
  • Use Adobe Acrobat due to paperless transmission of reports.
  • Conduct training and documentation of internal processes.

Job description

Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Manage full cycle client accounting services
  • Accurately record all financial transactions, including accruals, deferrals, and adjustments.
  • Perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts (e.g., cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc.) to ensure that records are accurate and complete.
  • Prepare and close the monthly accounting books, ensuring all entries are posted and reconciled.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Oversee payroll including payroll tax filings ensuring compliance and accuracy
  • Allocate income and expenses using class tracking and/or job costing
  • Maintain and support a positive and productive client relationship with proactive and responsive communication
  • Advise clients on best practices and provide recommendations for improving processes
  • Assign and review staff level work
  • Set up new accounting files with chart of accounts in applicable software
  • Prepare and review payroll and payroll tax forms, including annual forms W2, W3, 1099, 1096, 940
  • Prepare and review quarterly payroll forms 941, 944 and unemployment reports
  • Prepare and process sales tax returns
  • Prepare and review Personal Property Tax Renditions
  • Perform work in Adobe Acrobat due to the paperless nature and electronic transmission of the reports, returns, and work product
  • Conduct training and documentation of internal processes.

The base compensation for this position is $78,000 - $95,000 annually, DOE. Residents of California or New York will not be considered at this time. Position is available for remote, hybrid or on site work.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related discipline

Experience

A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, ideally in a client-focused environment in public accounting, or a combination of public accounting and industry experience, with a strong background in preparing GAAP-based financial statements.

Computer Skills

Highly proficient in working in a cloud environment, with strong technology skills using a computer or laptop, mouse, and keyboard with multiple monitors.

Certificates and Licenses

CPA or CPA candidate preferred

Other Requirements

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as Quickbooks Online is required. Experience in Bill.com, Xero, Gusto, Fixed Asset Manager, Workflow, Adobe Acrobat with PDF Flyer, and CaseWare is preferred.
