Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of cost accounting including job costing, direct and indirect cost allocation, project cost analysis, and variance analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Two to four years of accounting experience preferred, with hands-on cost or project accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and basic U.S. GAAP principles.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and AP/AR transactions.
• Experience with multi-entity and intercompany accounting preferred.
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas, reconciliations, and large data set analysis.
• Experience with ERP/accounting software; Acumatica experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and work with limited supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and other month-end adjustments.
• Perform monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations and maintain supporting general ledger schedules.
• Assist with monthly and year-end close and the preparation of financial reports and statements.
• Apply cost accounting principles to track, reconcile, and analyze project costs, including labor, subcontractor costs, equipment, and other direct expenses.
• Review cost coding and allocations to ensure expenses are recorded accurately to the appropriate projects and accounts.
• Prepare job cost reports, investigate cost variances, and work with project managers to resolve discrepancies and support accurate project reporting.
• Perform intercompany reconciliations and assist with recording transactions among multiple entities.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
• Assist with fixed asset accounting, depreciation, and sales and use tax reporting.
• Review general ledger activity, investigate unusual transactions, and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Maintain organized accounting records and provide supporting documentation for audit requests.
• Collaborate with accounting staff and other departments and assist with special projects as assigned.
