Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a contract Senior Accountant for our San Jose, CA location to support month-end close, maintain general ledger entries, and prepare financial statements for project-based work. The role requires 3+ years of accounting experience, a strong GAAP foundation, and advanced Excel skills; experience with large ERP systems and construction accounting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• Prior experience in construction, contractor, project-based, or related industries preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookups.
• Experience working within a large ERP system.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to perform detailed financial and numerical analysis.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
• Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and job cost accounting functions.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Analyze project costs, monitor budgets, and support project managers with financial reporting.
• Help ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Support external audits and provide requested documentation.
• Review and analyze general ledger activity to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with operations and project teams to provide financial insights and reporting support.
