CFS is seeking a Staff Accountant in New Haven, CT to support the accounting team with detailed account analysis and reconciliations. The role offers hands-on responsibilities and opportunities to work on complex financial projects within a collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of accounting experience, strong reconciling skills, and proficiency in Excel and accounting software.

Qualifications

5+ years of accounting experience required.
Proven experience with complex bank reconciliations.
General ledger and journal entry experience.
Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

Responsibilities

Perform complex bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.
Research and resolve outstanding reconciling items and discrepancies.
Analyze account activity and investigate variances.
Prepare and post journal entries.
Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain supporting schedules.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Support financial reporting and audit preparation.
Work closely with the accounting team on various accounting projects and initiatives.
