Job summary

The Staff Accountant role at Moran Environmental Recovery, LLC is a full-time professional position based in Jacksonville, FL. You will support monthly close, cash management, tax administration and financial reporting for MER and subsidiaries.

Under the Corporate Accounting Manager, you will prepare management reports, assist audits and help improve internal controls. A Bachelor’s in Accounting is required; CPA candidate or Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years accounting experience, preferably in construction or similar industry.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and financial controls.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer operations.
• Experience with construction accounting software Spectrum or Timberline.
• Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Experience with multi-state and local tax laws a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist monthly close process for MER and subsidiaries, including balance sheet reconciliation and journal entries.
• Process cash receipts and postings; resolve customer account discrepancies.
• Prepare and file state/local taxes with accuracy and timely deadlines.
• Monitor tax issues and notices; respond promptly.
• Prepare scheduled and ad hoc management reports and analyses.
• Assist with company audits.
