Job summary

Moran Environmental Recovery is seeking a Project Accountant to support project management and ensure accurate financial reporting. You will manage project setup, billing, revenue recognition, and month-end close while coordinating with project teams to optimize profitability.

The role requires two years of construction accounting experience, a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and strong Excel skills. Seattle-based, with equal opportunity employer statements present.

Qualifications

• Two years of construction accounting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up projects in the accounting system with correct approvals.
• Review contracts, change orders, and billing terms.
• Accurately recognize revenue, WIP, and gross profit for projects.
• Monitor project progress and communicate with management on billing and profitability.
• Assist with financial duties and budgeting alignment.
• Create purchase orders and manage open commitments.
• Close month-end: cost accruals, revenue recognition, and WIP adjustments.
• Address monthly variances with project management to resolve issues.
• Prepare project billings and manage client portals with supporting docs.
• Assist AR and past-due collections; prepare regulatory reports.
• Compile information for auditors; perform other duties as needed.
• Travel as required.
