Plantscape, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA seeks a Staff Accountant to support the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial information.

This full-time, onsite role reports to the Controller and covers general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, analysis, and special projects. This position requires independent work, strong attention to detail, and collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field strongly preferred; equivalent relevant accounting experience will be considered
• Demonstrated experience with general ledger accounting, month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations is required
• Basic knowledge and understanding of GAAP requirements is required
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, strong working knowledge of Word and Outlook, and familiarity with SharePoint is a bonus
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting, financial statements, and balance sheet relationships
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, accuracy, and time-management abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Self-directed, adaptable, and able to learn new accounting systems and software quickly
• Discreet and trustworthy when handling payroll, financial, employee, and other confidential information
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments

Responsibilities

• Assist the Controller with month-end and year-end close activities and help maintain an organized close process
• Prepare and post recurring, adjusting, and other journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation under the Controller’s direction
• Prepare monthly general ledger and balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate reconciling items
• Prepare and maintain month-end schedules, supporting workpapers, and other recurring accounting documentation
• Support fixed asset, lease, inventory, and other balance sheet accounting schedules and related reconciliations
• Prepare documentation and supporting schedules for external audits and assist with audit requests under the Controller’s direction
• Support the transition of financial data and accounting processes to new or upgraded systems, including cloud-based environment
• Cross-train as backup for critical accounting functions, which may include accounts payable, payroll, billing, and other departmental processes
• Maintain complete, accurate, organized, and confidential financial records and supporting documentation
• Participate in departmental meetings as needed
• Perform additional accounting duties, special projects, and responsibilities as assigned by the Controller and President
