Job summary

Renowned Recruitment Group is seeking a Staff Accountant in California to manage general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting. The role will independently handle accounting functions, resolve discrepancies, and help improve accuracy and efficiency of operations.

Responsibilities include month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting support, and SOX controls where applicable. Strong GAAP, Excel skills, and experience with ERP systems are required.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong experience independently handling general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and financial statements.
• Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup functions.
• Experience with accounting software or ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
• Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts and resolve outstanding items.
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and supporting accounting schedules.
• Prepare financial reports and analyze account activity and budget-to-actual variances.
• Review AP and AR transactions for proper coding and completeness.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
• Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor requests.
• Maintain internal controls and support SOX compliance where applicable.
• Improve accounting workflows and reporting processes.
• Coordinate with other departments to resolve accounting questions.
