Job summary

The Groove is building a formal finance and accounting function to support rapid growth, moving from a founder-led setup to accrual-basis close in Workday. We’re hiring a Staff Accountant to execute reconciliations, journal entries, AP/AR support, and general ledger discipline, working directly with the CFO and a controller consultant.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 3–5 years of general ledger / staff accounting experience: journal entries, account reconciliations, AP/AR, and month-end close support.
• Solid working knowledge of GAAP and double-entry accounting fundamentals.
• Comfort with Excel for reconciliation and analysis work (lookups, pivot tables).
• Workday Financials experience is a strong plus; daily use during configuration/cleanup.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly and quarterly bank reconciliations in Workday, including backlog cleanup.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts on an accrual basis each quarter and correct stale balances.
• Assist with month-end close tasks, including prepaid amortization and depreciation entries.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including 1099 tracking and cash application.
• Assist with payroll reconciliations and benefits deductions review.
• Help maintain a documented monthly close checklist and grow ownership over time.
