Aspire Public Schools is hiring a Staff Accountant, Accounts Receivable in Oakland, CA. This role ensures timely and accurate recording of deposits across Aspire school sites and supports the Revenue/AR Manager, Controller, and Financial Analyst teams with month-end close and reporting tasks.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, experience in nonprofit accounting, and strong Excel and budgeting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field preferred.
• Background in accounting, through coursework and/or work experience.
• Experience with charter school and/or nonprofit accounting preferred; accounting systems such as MIP or NetSuite preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create accurate cash receipt deposits for all Aspire school sites to ensure a timely accounts receivable month-end close.
• Request funding advice from the county and process funds to the appropriate school sites.
• Work with state and federal education and food service departments to comply with reporting requirements.
• Track, report, and analyze financial data related to nutrition programs and grant funding.
• Support month-end close activities, including posting journal entries and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
